Zoo Ave: A Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Oasis Guide
Welcome to Zoo Ave, more than just a zoo, it's a sanctuary dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation of Costa Rican wildlife. Nestled in the lush landscapes of Alajuela, this unique destination offers visitors an intimate glimpse into the diverse ecosystem of Costa Rica, showcasing a wide array of native birds, mammals, and reptiles. Prepare to be amazed by the vibrant colors of macaws, the playful antics of monkeys, and the serene presence of sloths, all while supporting a vital mission of animal welfare. Zoo Ave's history is rooted in a deep commitment to conservation. Founded as a private bird collection, it evolved into a recognized rescue center, taking in injured, orphaned, and confiscated animals. The organization works tirelessly to rehabilitate these creatures, with the ultimate goal of releasing them back into their natural habitats whenever possible. For those animals that cannot be released, Zoo Ave provides a safe and enriching environment where they can live out their lives. A visit to Zoo Ave offers a variety of engaging activities. Wander through the well-maintained trails, observing the animals in spacious and naturalistic enclosures. Participate in guided tours to learn about the individual stories of the rescued animals and the challenges they face in the wild. Don't miss the opportunity to witness the impressive bird shows, where trained macaws and other avian species demonstrate their intelligence and agility. While Zoo Ave doesn't have a specific culinary tradition, the on-site cafe offers delicious local snacks and refreshments to enjoy during your visit.
